According to Shams Charania, Jonas Valanciunas is leaving the Washington Wizards to join Domantas Sabonis on the Sacramento Kings.
Frenchman Sidy Cissoko, who recently arrived in California from the San Antonio Spurs, is going in the other direction, along with two second-round picks.
Per ESPN, Sacramento is using most of its $12.8 million non-taxpayer midlevel exception to acquire Valanciunas’ $9.9 million salary.
Plus the Kings are sending a 2028 Denver Nuggets second-round pick (if No. 34-60) and their own second-rounder in 2029 to Washington. The Denver second-round pick was acquired from San Antonio in the De’Aaron Fox trade.
Valanciunas will therefore team up in the NBA with his compatriot and Lithuanian national teammate, Sabonis.
The 32-year-old big man was in his first season with Washington after signing a three-year, $30 million deal with the Wizards last June.
This season, Valanciunas is averaging 11.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game in 49 games.
