Former EuroLeague MVP Vasilije Micic moves from the Charlotte Hornets to the Phoenix Suns according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The 31-year-old Serban guard has an $8 million option for 2025-26.
The trade deal also involves center Jusuf Nurkic who will join the Hornets from the Suns. Phoenix is also acquiring Cody Martin and a 2026 second-round pick while giving Charlotte a first-round pick.
Micic is averaging 7.5 points, 3.5 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 21.2 minutes over 36 games this season so far. It’s his second year in the NBA after collecting season MVP (2021), Final Four MVP (2022) and two EuroLeague championships (2021, 2022) in Europe.
Nurkic, a 10-year NBA veteran, was posting 8.6 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists during 23.7 minutes over 25 games in 2024-25. The 30-year-old big man hasn’t played a game since early January as Suns coach Mike Budenholzer has opted not to use him.
