The Oklahoma City Thunder have officially announced they have waived Daniel Theis. The 32-year-old German big man was on an expiring $2.1 million salary.
This decision was made public just a day after the Thunder acquired Theis and a 2031 second-round pick from the New Orleans Pelicans for cash considerations.
The Thunder now have an open roster spot, which they can use to fill other needs.
As for Theis, he is a free agent, however, it’s more than possible that NBA contenders would love to add it with a minimum contact for the rest of the season.
During the summer, Theis was also a target of EuroLeague defending champion Panathinaikos.
