After the Mavs’ fan protest, Davis shines — and so does Sengun

Before Anthony Davis made his official debut for the Dallas Mavericks, fans protested outside the American Airlines Center following Luka Dončić’s trade to the Los Angeles Lakers.

However, they may have found a new favorite in the former Lakers center, as Davis shined in his debut, leading the Mavs to a 116-105 victory over Alperen Şengün and the Houston Rockets.

Davis scored 24 points in the first half but managed only two more in the second, going to the locker room with a non-contact injury late in the 3rd quarter.

Nevertheless, he finished just three assists shy of a triple-double, adding 16 rebounds and three blocks. He joined Dirk Nowitzki as the only Mavericks to record such numbers in a single game, while setting a franchise record for the most rebounds in a debut.

On the other side, Şengün also had a standout performance, leading the Rockets on the road with 30 points, eight rebounds, and three assists, shooting 11-of-19 from the field.
