Celebrating your birthday with a victory isn’t bad, but what about celebrating your victory with 31 points in a victory? That’s what Luka Doncic did last night, dragging the Lakers over the Clippers.
Taking a huge role in the 106-102 victory to get home the Los Angeles derby and the franchise’s fifth straight victory while turning 26, the Slovenian phenomenon led the whole team in scoring, shooting 9/22 from the field and 10/11 at the line.
“Since I’ve been back, they’re just letting me be me. I got a long way to go, but slowly I’m starting to feel like myself,” Luka Doncic commented in the post-game press conference.
He was assisted by LeBron James, who finished with a double-double of 28 points and 13 rebounds. The Lakers were in urge of collective contribution, but their two superstars stepped up to take the win.
On the losing side, Ivica Zubac still had an important double-double at 27 points and 16 rebounds, shooting almost perfectly from the field (13/15) while adding 1/2 at the line.
Coming off the bench, Bogdan Bogdanovic had 6 points in his team’s loss.
