LeBron James may miss weeks of action after the groin injury he suffered during the loss of the Los Angeles Lakers to the Boston Celtics.
According to a report by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, an initial thought is that James’ recovery could be “a matter of weeks”. If the injury proves to be that serious, the Lakers will miss LeBron during an extended period of last stretch of the regular season and while they are making a push to finish in the top spots of the Western Conference.
In the Lakers’ locker room, James told reporters that he has “not much concern” about his injury. “Day to day,” LeBron mentioned. “Look at each day, see if it gets better. Take the proper measurements and see.”
James exited the game vs. the Celtics in the mid of the fourth quarter and while the Lakers were trying to make a comeback from down 21 in the fourth quarter. The Lakers said that he had a strain in his left groin.
This isn’t the first time that James is sidelined with a similar type of injury.
During LeBron’s debut season in Los Angeles, he tore his left groin in Christmas day 2018 in a victory over the Golden State Warriors. He was forced to miss the next 17 games of which the Lakers lost in 12 to end up out the playoffs.
“I’ve been there before, and I know what type of injury you’re dealing with,” James said, adding that this injury now isn’t as serious. “It’s not as bad as that. It’s not as bad as that.”
