After leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to a convincing win over the Denver Nuggets and Nikola Jokic, Anthony Edwards stayed virtually in Europe and the Balkans.
The 23-year-old American winger revealed studying how Slovenian Luka Doncic deals with additional pressure from the defense.
“Especially Luka, I watch a lot of Luka. Seeing how he attacks the double team, even though we play in different paces, but just seeing his strategy to beat the double team, I think that helps me a lot,” he mentioned in a media session in Denver’s Ball Arena on Wednesday.
Earlier in the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season, Ant was vocal about the decision of the Dallas Mavericks to trade the Slovenian sensation to the Los Angeles Lakers. Following Doncic now extends to further developing his unique talents and continue dominating the court in the league based in North America and at the international level with the United States.
Over 64 appearances in his fifth year with the Wolves, Edwards is on track for several career highs with 27.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest alongside 4.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
Carrying a six-game winning streak into the bottom end of the Regular Season, his side improved to 38-29 and currently ranks seventh in the Western Conference standings, one game away from a direct berth in the 2025 Playoffs. With the Lakers at 40-24 and slightly higher on the table, a potential postseason matchup with Doncic is in the cards for Edwards.
