Dwyane Wade reacted to the incident between LeBron James and Stephen A. Smith when the Los Angeles Lakers superstar confronted the latter about his commentary on Bronny James.

“Bron is my guy, but Bron did put some extra heat on Bronny,“ Wade said while visiting Carmelo Anthony’s 7PM in Brooklyn podcast. “When Bron put out that tweet about him being better than some cats in the NBA. They checked It. And they’re like ‘OK’. So they’re waiting on something.”

Wade was referring to a tweet that James did on March 2023. With Bronny still being a high school player, the Laker superstar wrote this on X: “Man Bronny definitely better than some of these cats I’ve been watching on league pass today.”

“Bronny needs criticism,” Wade also mentioned. “We all need some form of criticism. I think when it came from the way Stephen A came. It felt personal. I think it was the way he said it to him. You watch that and you’re LeBron.”

During a timeout in the game between the Lakers and the  New York Knicks last week, James moved toward Smith and had some heated words for the famous sports commentator and pundit.

According to Smith, LeBron told him, “You gotta stop talking sh-t about my son. You gotta stop f–king with my son. That’s my son, that’s my son.”

“You see your kid. You see how it affects him,” Wade added. “Like Stephen A. said, that was a father. He knows a son. They have conversations in household. From a dad perspective I’m with you. But from of you doing your job, you’re not wrong for doing your job at all, the way Stephen A. does his job.”

“Bronny needs criticism,” Wade also mentioned. “We all need some form of criticism. I think when it came from the way Stephen A. brought it, it felt personal. If you’re watching that and you’re LeBron, it came personal too.”

Wade and James were teammates at the Miami Heat from 2010 to 2014 as members of the Big Three, together with Chris Bosh. They led the team to the back-to-back championship titles in 2012 and 2013.
