Last night Josh Giddey almost reached an achievement that the NBA hasn’t seen in over 30 years.

In the game of the Chicago Bulls against the Los Angele Lakers, Giddey notched 15 points, 17 assists, 10 rebounds and eight steals to help his team get a 146 – 115 blowout win. If he had two more steals, he’d be the first player to register a quadruble-double since David Robinson in 1994 and the youngest to ever do so.

Robinson had 34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 blocks in a 115-96 victory over the Detroit Pistons on February 17 of the 1993-94 season. The “Admiral” had then become just the fourth player to have a quadruble-double in the history of the NBA after Nate Thurmond (Chicago Bulls, 1974), Alvin Robertson (San Antonio Spurs, 1988) and Hakeem Olajuwon (Houston Rockets 1990).

Giddey played 33:11 vs. the Lakers and it’s possible that he’d put his name on the quadruble-double list if he spent just a couple of minutes more on the floor. The Australian player still managed to set a new career-high in assists to pace an overal spectacular offensive performance by the Bulls.

This is Giddey’s fourth season in the NBA and first with the Bulls after spending three years with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He’s averaging 14.0 points, 7.7 rebounds and a career-high 6.9 assists in 29.8 minutes.
