The NBA is making significant strides toward launching a new project in Europe, with Paris positioned as one of the main hubs.
As Eurohoops previously reported, European football powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain is part of the conversation, and Le Parisien confirmed that NBA executives have reached out to PSG’s main shareholder, QSI, to propose the creation of a franchise in the French capital.
“We have expressed interest,” a PSG spokesperson reportedly said.
Various options have been presented to the Qataris, including the outright acquisition of an existing Paris-based team or the formation of a new team, separate from PSG, through collaboration with other stakeholders. QSI remains open to both possibilities.
The NBA’s plan to establish itself on the continent is expected to make major progress in the coming hours, with a Board of Governors Press Conference featuring Adam Silver scheduled for today.
