The Washington Wizards prevailed over the Philadelphia 76ers on the road, and three former Real Madrid players made their presence felt on the floor.
Alex Sarr, who played two seasons on the Spanish powerhouse’s youth team, led the way for the Wizards but had help from another Madridista, Tristan Vukcevic, against Guerschon Yabusele and the Sixers.
The former Partizan player had another very good performance in the NBA, and after the game, he reflected on playing alongside Sarr in the NBA.
“Yeah, we’re just long. When you have two seven-footers on the court, it makes a difference. We have big hands, long arms—just a lot of height. We’re protecting the paint, so they can’t get easy points. If you’re going to the paint and you see two seven-footers, you’ll think twice about finishing. I think that helps a lot,” Vukcevic said.
Sarr was his teammate in Madrid as well, and so was 76ers’ Yabusele, who was a standout player for the 76ers.
“He was my vet in Europe, and we talked about it in Madrid, like, four years ago. Now we’re both in the NBA—it’s crazy. He made a great comeback and helped me a lot. He told me about the NBA before I even got here, so he kind of gave me an idea. And you know, that’s my son,” Tristan Vukcevic concluded.
Vukcevic has made 27 appearances for the Wizards this season, averaging 7.8 points and 3.3 rebounds.
