The NBA’s plans to launch a European league in partnership with FIBA have been revealed, prompting more and more voices from the basketball world to weigh in on the idea.

Charlotte Hornets center Jusuf Nurkić, from Bosnia and Herzegovina, also touched on the topic of the NBA expanding to Europe.

I think it’s a great thing. It’ll give players more opportunities and freedom to choose teams. When the NBA steps in, everyone should take it seriously because we know how Adam Silver and his team put things together. I think it will be a really good league. I just hope it doesn’t make the EuroLeague disappear because it’s a great competition with amazing atmospheres.,” Nurkić told Mundo Deportivo.

He also expressed his admiration for the EuroLeague.

Everyone loves the EuroLeague, and I’m a huge fan. I follow it, and for me, I hope FIBA and the NBA can create something that’s just as competitive. That should be the goal.”

Nurkić believes both leagues can coexist in European basketball.

I don’t know—the EuroLeague has its own rules right now. But I hope they can coexist. Hopefully, they create something that benefits basketball and the players because everyone wants high-quality basketball. That’s how it can work. We’ll see,” Nurkić concluded.
