After hitting a tough shot over Isaiah Hartenstein, Luka Doncic appeared to say something to a fan, but the referee gave him a second technical foul, which resulted in his ejection.
The Oklahoma City Thunder took control from that moment and ended up defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 136–120.
Up to that point, Doncic was the Lakers’ best performer with 23 points and five assists.
“I’ve never had a fan ejected. Never. But if he’s going to talk, I’m going to talk back like always. That had nothing to do with the ref, so I really didn’t understand,” Doncic said in reaction to his ejection.
Without the Slovenian star, the LA team struggled and fell to the Western Conference leaders, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scoring 42 points. German big man Hartenstein added eight points and 15 rebounds for the winning team.
