Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison hosted a private, invite-only roundtable with select members of the Dallas media on Tuesday.

While cameras and recording devices were not permitted, reporters in attendance shared details of an exchange between Harrison and ESPN’s Tim MacMahon during the closed-door session.

MacMahon questioned why the Mavericks didn’t secure Luka Dončić’s supermax deal, citing his emotional display, while Harrison said there was no guarantee Luka would sign it.

Luka was going to sign the supermax. Why didn’t you sign him and then, if you really wanted to trade him?” MacMahon asked Harrison, prompting the response, “Well, there’s no guarantee he would sign a supermax.

MacMahon continued, saying, “He (Luka) has guaranteed it; he was bawling on the bench,” referring to his emotional return with the Lakers, to which Harrison concluded, “Well, like I said, we can agree to disagree.”

Dončić recently had an emotional return to Dallas, which ended with him leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a win, scoring 45 points.
