Nico Harrison faced the press and his answers were not satisfying

On the day that numerous reports, including one in ESPN, presented a dysfunctional image of the Dallas franchise management, GM Nico Harrison met the media and created more questions than answering some.

Harrison following up on an attempt to hold a “small media roundtable” with select journalists talked to all credentialed reporters and many questions were centered around Luka Doncic.

In a surprising blunt admission, Harrison said that he didn’t realize Mavericks fans would react as they did after the trade of the Slovenian superstar.

“I knew Luka was important to the fan base,” he said. “I didn’t quite know it to what level”.

Asked why he shouldn’t be fired, Harrison took the punch and tried to defend his work with the team.

“I think I’ve done a really good job here,” he said, adding that he has a good relationship with team owner Patrick Dumont. “I don’t think I can be judged by injuries this year. You have to be judged in totality from beginning to end.”

“I believe winning will help repair the relationship with the fans,” was the bottom line with Harrison hoping that a healthy roster can provide better results next season.
