Dirk Nowitzki is keeping a close eye on Cooper Flagg as the 19-year-old prepares for his second NBA season.
The former Dallas star revealed that he occasionally contacts Flagg after watching him play and has made it clear that his door is always open.
“We met a few times, and we’re obviously in contact. I write him a few things when I see something. So, he knows that I’m in his corner whenever I want him to succeed and do well. But like I said, he’s so far ahead of the curve already at that age. But if there’s ever anything that he needs, I’m more than happy to help,” Nowitzki said.
Flagg established himself as the face of the Mavericks during his rookie campaign, averaging 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists before being named Rookie of the Year.
Nowitzki’s continued involvement gives Dallas’ rebuilding centerpiece access to the most accomplished player in franchise history.
