The French national team has already landed in Manila for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament of Philippines, being one player short, since Nicolas Batum is not among his teammates in “Les Bleus”. In fact, he has made a lightning trip to a different direction. Dallas, to be specific. The reason?
As various media from the USA report, Batum is going to meet with the Dallas Mavericks, entering some heavy negotiations with the team to possibly strike a deal with them. The 27-year old forward comes from a brilliant season with the Charlotte Hornets, in which he averaged 14.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.8 assists.
He is considered an excellent option to serve as a replacement for Chandler Parsons who will most likely leave the team and his versatility might be exactly what the Mavs need on the wing.
The plan for Batum is to finish the talks with the Mavericks as quickly as possible and then join the French national team in Manila in time for the the tournament’s premiere on July 5.
