Mindaugas Kuzminskas opened up about his rookie season with the New York Knicks on 15min.lt.
The Lithuanian forward has been fighting his way into the Knicks’ rotation, with lots of support from the fans. “Often it seems that the supporters and my relatives have been more keen on my playing minutes than myself. Now the coach has given me time which I think now I am worthy of.”
“LeBron James does not seem such a fearsome opponent as he would seem at first”, Kuzminskas admitted amongst other things. “Now I feel more confident. In the friendly matches I got a chance and tried to take advantage of it.”
How does he react when people of New York recognize him in the streets? “It’s fun! I’ve managed to establish a relatively close relationship with the fans. I like to communicate with people and of course I do not refuse to talk to them on the street. A team joke that, if you win, you’re raised on a pedestal, but if you lose, you’re one of the worst!”
The Knicks’ fans have surely left an impression to the player: “It is encouraging to see a packed stadium. Our fans are exceptional!”
