Pau’s Spurs beat Marc’s Grizzlies

After being defeated in the first two encounters with the Grizzlies, San Antonio beat Memphis 97-90 on Thursday night in a possible first-round playoff preview.

For Memphis, which fell 1 1/2 games behind Oklahoma City for sixth place, Spanish star Marc Gasol had 13 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists. His brother, Pau, come from the bench for the Spurs and scored 9 points. French icon Tony Parker finished the night with 13 points and 7 assists.

With the New York Knicks sitting Carmelo Anthony and Derrick Rose, Damian Lillard scored 30 points and the Trail Blazers never trailed in a 110-95 victory. Latvian Kristaps Porzingis scored 18 points for the Knicks. Lithuanian Mindaugas Kuzminskas as a starter scored 14 points and also Spaniard Willy Hernangomez had 10. Sloenian Sasha Vujacic come from the bench and scored 9 points.

DeMar DeRozan scored 40 points – doing that back-to-back for the first time in his career – and the Raptors clamped down defensively in the final three quarters to beat the Miami Heat 101-84. Slovenian Goran Dragic scored 13 for Miami, Hassan Whiteside also played despite his hand injury but this was not enough for the Heat who are trying to stay in the Top8 of the standings and the playoffs. For Toronto, Spaniard Serge Ibaka, who served his one-game suspension for fighting Chicago’s Robin Lopez, missed the game, Lithuanian Jonas Valanciunas had 2 points and 8 rebounds and Austian Jakob Poeltl 4 points.
