Born in 1992, Daniel Theis has been scouted throughout the season from many NBA teams, he matured to a key member of the German champs Brose Bamberg and the Boston Celtics are more than interested on him. The fact that he is also a free agent doesn’t hurt.
As general manager Danny Ainge admitted in today’s conference call about trading the number 1 draft pick: “We are in talks with him and hope to sign him”. Schroeder recently said that he would want Theis as his teammate in Atlanta but this is not the case.
While Theis despite being 6ft8 has also been used as center in Europe, he is projected to be a power forward in the NBA and he can also shoot the three as he proved with a stellar 41% percentage (16/39) in a total of 30 EuroLeague games this season. He scored 19 points twice this season, against Barcelona and CSKA Moscow.
The interest of the Celtics for Theis was first reported by Sportando.
