Anadolu Efes bid its farewell to Cedi Osman with a message on Twitter, basically announcing his leap to the NBA with the transfer to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“We wish luck to Cedi Osman, the fourth player from the Anadolu Efes youth academy who goes to the NBA”, is written in the tweet by the official account of Anadolu Efes.
The other three players are of course Hedo Turkoglu (various teams from 2000 to 2015), Furkan Korkmaz (Philadelphia 76ers) and Mirsad Turkcan (New York Knicks & Milwaukee Bucks), the first Turkish baller to ever play in the NBA. Turkcan is also Osman’s agent in Turkey.
Osman, 22, signed a three-year, $8.5 million, guaranteed deal with the Cavs and Efes will receive approximately $1 million as buyout. The 2016 NBA champions acquired his rights via a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2015 Draft night.
