While in Paris, Kobe Bryant gave an interview to Spanish AS where, among other things, he talked about USA president Donald Trump.
“He should serve (his country),” Kobe said when asked what Mamba Mentality challenge would he give to Trump.
“I think that for any person in his position, a position of command, the first thing must be to not separate the people,” he added. “Not say inflammable things. You have to understand that your responsibility is to serve the whole. You have to understand the position you are in and take care of every word because everything you say will be measured differently from what any other person says. My test for him would be to serve the country and not just yourself.”
Would Kobe ever consider a career in politics?
“No, no, no, no (laughs). See, the person who is in this position has to act as a “unifier”. You cannot divide people. And I don’t care if it is left or right, nor who is to blame for what. The reality of the situation is that the person who is in that position has to have the ability to unite people.”
When asked if he has ever spoken directly to Trump, the “Mamba” answered, “No. And I have no intention of doing so.”
The five-time NBA champion also commented on the recent achievements of Giannis Antetokounmpo. After all, he has challenged the Greek Freak to win NBA MVP and Giannis seems to have taken it quite seriously.
“I don’t want to put more pressure on his shoulders but after seeing what I’ve seen… not only do I think that he can be the best player (MVP), I think he can also be the best defender (DPOY). I think that Giannis can be a great, great offensive player and the best defensive player.”
