According to his own words, that is a scenario that’s entirely possible. In an interview with The Athletic, James revealed that he may be part of the Cavs long after his playing days are done.
When asked about potentially buying the franchise in the future, James seemed sincere and honest in his response:
“To be an owner of any team would be crazy,” James told. “If this thing opened up and I’m in a position financially, and I’ve got the right team around me, obviously. But who’s to say Dan will sell? I’ve always kept it just player/owner at this point. I guess once I come down to that point, if the conversation needed to be had, I’ll have it. But I don’t have it right now.”
Judging by his response, James surely isn’t shying away from the thought of potentially owning the Cavs one day.
