Italian forward Danilo Gallinari scored a season-high 25 points, helping the L.A. Clippers beat the Washington Wizards 113 – 112 at Staples Center.
“Gallo” shot 8/19 from the field, grabbed three rebounds and dished out two assists in his second game following his return from injury.
The hero for the Clippers was Lou Williams who drained the game-winning 3-pointer with two seconds remaining. He finished with a game-high 35 points, seven of them in the last 80 seconds, plus eight assists.
Before Williams’ dagger from beyond the arc, Bradley Beal had put Washington up 112 – 110 before with a 3-point play. He was the losing squad’s second top scorer with 25 while Otto Porter led the Wizards with 27.
Tomas Satoransky had an all-around with 11 points, six assists and three rebounds for the Wizards but missed a key pair of free throws with his team up 109 – 105 and 51 seconds left. Ian Mahinmi added 14 points. while Marcin Gortat notched nine points and eight rebounds.
The Clippers are now 9-15 and are hoping to have Milos Teodosic available in Monday’s game against the Toronto Raptors.
