Lonzo Ball was taken out in the first quarter against the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday night, and coach Walton joked about the reason why after the game.
“His dad was talking shit so I took him out early,” the coach said, as reported by Southern California News Group’s Bill Oram.
Walton was referring to an interview of LaVar Ball from Lithuania that was released earlier Sunday in which Lonzo’s father talked the Lakers coach down.
“Luke doesn’t have control of the team no more,” Lonzo’s father said, per Jeff Goodman of ESPN. “They don’t want to play for him.”
