The Blazers lost in Detroit, and after the Jazz downed the Pelicans, Denver had a golden opportunity to reach sixth place with a win and did just that by beating the Charlotte Hornets 121-104.
Once again, Nikola Jokic was sensational as the Serbian star flirted with a triple-double finishing with 15 points, 16 boards, 7 assists and 2 steals.
Nicolas Batum had 15 points, 4 boards and 5 assists for the losing side.
The Utah Jazz dominated the Pelicans in New Orleans, 133-109.
Ricky Rubio had 20 points, 4 boards and 11 assists while Rudy Robert added 19 points, 10 boards, an assist, a steal and a block in a win.
Danilo Gallinari scored a season-high 28 points to lead the Clippers past the Mavs 104-101. The Mavericks had a 10 point lead with 4:31 left but the Clippers scored 13 unanswered to end the game with the Italian stud leading the way.
Dirk Nowitzki had 12 points, 6 boards and a block for the losing side.
