Bogdan Bogdanovic made headlines in the Sacramento Kings’ 104 – 98 victory over the Chicago Bulls thanks to a crucial 3-pointer he nailed in the last minute of the match. But it wasn’t only his performance that was a “hot topic” after the game.
Following Robin Lopez’s ejection in the second quarter and his livid reaction that came after, Bogdanovic was asked if he has ever been ejected from a game himself while playing in Europe.
The answer was negative. In a way. Because that question brought back memories to the Serbian guard from his days in Partizan Belgrade and a heated… chocking incident with former coach Dusko Vujosevic.
Per NBC Sports:
“The Kings rookie guard smiled and said, “Not like that, I think that’s also part of the show, to draw some attention.”
When he thought about it further, he added an interesting tidbit.
“Coach ejected me once,” Bogdanovic said with a smile. “You can find it on Youtube, just type in coach ‘coach choking Bogdanovic.’ You can see.”
It was kind of Serbia father and son relationship,” Bogdanovic said with a laugh. “So yeah, I was ejected that one game. Not from referees, but from coaches.”
During a 2014 game between Partizan and FMP in the Serbian League, Bogdanovic protested a call and received a technical by the referee. Vujosevic overreacted by putting his hands on the throat of his player like he was chocking him. He then sent Bogdanovic to the locker room.
Vujosevic apologized to his player afterward for what he considered to be a “pedagogical move”
