In Utah’s 110-79 victory over the Detroit Pistons, the hosts went 17 of 21 (81 percent) from the floor in the quarter and scored on its final 10 possessions to take a 42-21 lead.
French star Rudy Gobert had 22 points and 12 rebounds, one of six Jazz players who scored in double figures. Former Euroleague champ Joe Ingles added 17 points, seven assists and seven rebounds, and Sweeden’s Jonas Jerebko had 16 points and eight rebounds.
The Jazz won their seventh straight and 19th of their last 21 games. Utah has lost just four times since Gobert returned to the lineup from a knee injury on Jan. 19.
On the top of the East, Lithuanian Jonas Valanciunas had 26 points and 14 rebounds, and the Raptors won their ninth straight and 16th of 17, 116-102 over the Brooklyn Nets
In Washington, Karl Anthony Towns recovered from a hit to the jaw that left him face-down on the court late in the first half and finished with a season-high 37 points and 10 rebounds, leading the Timberwolves to a 116-111 victory over the Wizards. Serb Nemanja Bjelica scored 17 points and flirted with the triple-double for the winning side, while Czech Tomas Satoransky had 15 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals for the losing side.
New Orleans beat the struggling Charlotte Hornets 119-115 despite an amazing stat line by French Nicolas Batum (20 p. 8 r. 5 as. 4 st. 3 bl.).
