His impact is showing off for his team, as Antetokounmpo put once lousy Bucks back to the basketball map. Now, the arena fills up almost every night.
But it’s been a long way to get there. Giannis’ parents emigrated to Greece from Nigeria. No papers, no steady income, all of which resulted in Giannis and his brothers selling stuff on the streets.
“You know, it was tough. We didn’t have a lot of money. But we had a lot of happiness. So we weren’t broke happiness wise. When we were struggling back in the day, we were all together in one room, same room. We were having fun. We were smiling. There were some tough times”, Giannis tells.
