According to Tim MacMahon of ESPN, the 39-year old Dirk Nowitzki had surgery on his left ankle on Thursday’s (05/04) morning and will miss the next three games of the regular season.
As MacMahon states, the surgery is considered relatively minor and is not expected to affect his decision on whether he will return for a 21st NBA season.
For the season, the 20-year veteran has been averaging 12.0 points, and 6.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 45.6% from the field. This, however, hasn’t been a very successful year for Dallas’ team, as the Mavs have a 24-55 record, and are sitting at the 13th position in the Western Conference standings.
Sources: Dirk Nowitzki underwent surgery on his left ankle this morning and will miss the rest of the season. The surgery is considered relatively minor and is not expected to affect his decision on whether to return for a 21st season.
