David Blatt is among the three major contenders for the New York Knicks‘ vacant head coach position, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.
The other two candidates are former Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer and former Memphis Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale.
Knicks president Steve Mills and General Manager Scott Perry have been conducting interviews with candidates these recent weeks and have completed the procedure, per ESPN. Blatt, who is currently in Istanbul coaching Turkish club and newly crowned EuroCup champion Darussafaka refused that he met with any NBA teams, despite numerous reports pointing to the opposite.
The Knicks are widely expected to make a hire as early as this week after interviewing nearly a dozen candidates, with David Blatt, Mike Budenholzer and David Fizdale regarded as prime contenders
