Serbian basketball legend Peja Stojakovic has been promoted from being the Sacramento Kings director of player personnel and development, to the position of assistant GM, per ESPN’s Marc J. Spears.
Stojakovic’s main duties will have to do with player development, supervising Stockton Kings (Sacramento’s G-League affiliate team) and talent evaluation.
“I am thrilled to announce that Peja will serve in this expanded role,” Kings GM Vlade Divac said per Kings.com. “His experience as a player and basketball executive combined with his ability to develop players and assess talent is a valuable asset to the Kings.”
The Serbian former player spent the first years of his NBA career with the Kings and was a member of the team from 1998 to January 2006. He was named an All-Star three times (2002, 2003, 2004) during that period.
His jersey number #16 was retired by the Kings in 2014.
