Maccabi Tel Aviv combo guard Pierre Jackson expressed his desire to make a return to the NBA next season and said that he’ll do everything in order to get back in the league.
“That’s my ultimate goal – to play at the highest level in basketball, play against the guys I grew up watching, and be able to stay at home to play in front of my family,” Jackson said in an interview with Hoopshype. “Getting back to the NBA will be my goal until I can’t walk anymore.”
Jackson, 26, played six matches with the Dallas Mavericks during the previous season, averaging 4.4 points and 2.4 assists over 10 minutes per game. Last summer he signed a 1+1 contract with Israeli powerhouse Maccabi Tel Aviv and returned to EuroLeague where he had also played with Turkish side Fenerbahce.
“Euroleague is the second-best league in the world and I had an opportunity to play an entire healthy season in the Euroleague, so this year was great to me. I had an amazing time with these guys this year. We had our ups and downs, but it was still an amazing season,” the American player also said.
While Maccabi Tel Aviv didn’t manage to advance to the EuroLeague playoffs for the third season in a row, Jackson had a productive season with 14.5 points, 4.2 assists and 2.9 rebounds over 25:38 minutes per game.
Jackson and Maccabi are currently competing in the Israeli Winner League playoffs with Ironi Ness Ziona.
