After the reports about Kawhi Leonard wishing to leave San Antonio and his top trade destination being Los Angeles, the Lakers have reportedly reached out to the Spurs and expressed their interest in the All-Star player, although no proposals were on the table, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.
Leonard’s relationship with the Spurs has been reported to be strained due to the long process involving his injury. San Antonio is considering offers on the player, but are not heavily engaging with interested teams. Kawhi also met with Gregg Popovich on Tuesday in San Diego.
Leonard, a two-time All-Star and two-time Defensive Player of the Year who was the 2013-14 NBA Finals MVP, played just nine games with the Spurs this past season.
