Reigning EuroLeague MVP Luka Doncic was selected with the third overall pick by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2018 NBA Draft.

The Hawks have agreed to send the Doncic to the Dallas Mavericks via a trade that includes the 2018 5th overall pick (Trae Young), per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Thus the 19-year-old former Slovenian point forward will continue his career in Texas for the Mavs.

What we’re basically getting here is the top European project in the history of basketball, sharing locker rooms with the quite possibly the best European player of all times: Dirk Nowitzki.

At 19 years old Doncic is by far the most accomplished European player of his age. In just the last 10 months, he’s won the EuroBasket with the Slovenian national team and the EuroLeague title and ACB championship title with Real Madrid.

On an individual level, Doncic is the youngest hooper to ever be named EuroLeague season and Final Four MVP. He won both these honors, along with the EuroLeague Rising Star award (for the second season in a row) and ACB season MVP.
