Luka Doncic had preferred to let things a bit vague regarding whether he’ll make the NBA jump next season or not, but shortly before the Draft ceremony, he pretty much made everything clear: He’s going to the NBA.
“Yes. My decision is made. I want to be an NBA player,” Doncic said when he was asked if he’ll play in the NBA next season, live on ESPN.
There were plenty of times during the season when Doncic said that he hasn’t made a decision about the NBA yet. The most recent one took place during the EuroLeague Final Four, where the (now former) Real Madrid player mentioned that he “wasn’t sure” whether the tournament’s games would be his last in EuroLeague.
It was a quite understandable statement of course since he was ahead of the most important matches of the season. In which he absolutely delivered by leading Real Madrid to the EuroLeague title and being named the Final Four MVP in the process.
At 19 years of age, Doncic is leaving Europe for the NBA having won literally everything there is to win in the continent, in every possible level. EuroBasket gold medal, EuroLeague title, the Spanish ACB League championship title (thrice) and the Spanish Copa Del Rey (twice).
The list of his individual achievements includes EuroLeague and Final Four MVP, All-EuroLeague First Team honors and ACB season MVP.
