Elie Okobo was one of the ten European players drafted on Thursday night at the ‘Barclays Center,’ and on Sunday, he agreed on a four-year deal with the Phoenix Suns.
Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports reported that the two sides have agreed on a four-year, $6M rookie deal. Okobo’s deal will be guaranteed for the first two seasons, with team options on years 3 and 4.
The 20-year old guard was selected 31st overall by the Phoenix Suns, and seem to believe in him and his unique talents.
Okobo played for French team Pau-Lacq-Orthez in the French League (Pro A) for the last three years, and in the 2017-2018 season, he shined. He put up averages of 12.9 points (47.5% FG), 4.8 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 0.9 steals per game, highlighted by a historic 44-point performance against Monaco.
Finally, he has also represented his country, France on numerous occasions. Okobo, was a key player for the under-20 team at the FIBA Europe U-20 Championship, which he took part in twice, winning a bronze medal in 2017.
