Mario Hezonja and the New York Knicks have a “mutual interest” to potentially continue together, according to Ian Begley of ESPN. The player is an unrestricted free agent since the Orlando Magic didn’t pick the fourth-year option in his contract back in October.
As Begley reports, the word around some NBA front offices is that Hezonja considers the Knicks as the top destination to continue his career. As for New York, they aren’t the only team interested in the 23-year-old Croatian swingman which makes sense given the young of his age plus the fact that he comes from the most productive season of his career.
Hezonja, the fifth overall pick of 2015, finished the previous season with 9.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists, averaging 22 minutes over 75 games.
