Luka Doncic, the 2018 NBA Draft No.3 overall pick, will start his NBA career with the Dallas Mavericks but has not been available yet for team practices due to unfinished bureaucracy.
Although the 19-year-old is looking forward to joining his new teammates in practices, he is unable to do so until his buyout with Real Madrid is completed along with some necessary paperwork, as Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle said:
“He has not participated in a live practice yet because he needs to have his buyout completed with Real Madrid. We’re getting close to getting those things done, but we’re not there yet.”, the coach explained to the media.
The required buyout is estimated to be at around $2 million.
