After spending 17 seasons with the Spurs, Tony Parker has decided to make a change this summer and join the Hornets. As Parker explains, “I feel like the Hornets wanted me more”.
“The Spurs made me an offer, but it was only for year and with a role a little wobbly. I wanted to have a real challenge.”
The San Antonio side had proposed Parker a mentor role within the team, something that didn’t fit with the Frenchman’s mentality: “I do not want to become a coach before being one”, Parker continues.
As for his return to San Antonio next season, Parker might even get teary-eyed. “It will be a lot of emotion, I would not be surprised if there were some tears in my eyes. The Spurs will always be my home, San Antonio will always be a big part of my life”, he concludes.
