The Atlanta Hawks offered the Cleveland Cavaliers the opportunity to trade up to No. 3 in a deal that would have involved Kent Bazemore in this year’s NBA draft, as reported by Bleacher Report.
Hawks swapped spots with the Dallas Mavericks at No. 5, and a trade between Luka Doncic and Trae Young followed.
If the Cleveland Cavaliers had accepted said offer, Luka Doncic could have joined the team in its post-Lebron era. However, the team’s already bloated salary cap didn’t allow such a move, hence the Cavs kept their 8th overall pick.
