After completing the previous season in Greece with Panathinaikos, Greek-American forward/center Zach Eli Auguste now turns his attention to his major ambition: Landing a contract that will get him to the NBA.
“My main focus and dream has always been the NBA,” Auguste told the Sacramento Bee. “I’m going to try to crack it. I had a chance my first year out but it didn’t follow through all the way. but I’m going to try to get in this league, and if I can’t, I’m going to go overseas and try again, and I won’t stop.”
Auguste has been playing solid basketball with an impact on both ends for the Sacramento Kings in the Las Vegas Summer League, posting 10.5 points and 6.8 rebounds averaging 19 minutes per game. His performances include a 19/9 display in a loss vs. the Cavaliers.
Apart from numbers, it’s Auguste’s general effort that earned the praise of Kings Summer League coach Larry Lewis. “I love (Auguste’s) hustle. He gets in some sneaky areas of the court, especially under the basket where he causes some problems for the rebounders on the other team,” Lewis said.
In 2017-2018, the second season of his professional career, Auguste won the Greek League title with Panathinaikos.
