The negotiations between the San Antonio Spurs and the Toronto Raptors came to fruition as the sides agreed on a trade. A trade call with the teams and the NBA league office is scheduled to begin shortly, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The Spurs have agreed to trade Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green to Toronto while in return getting DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a protected 2019 first-round pick.
Toronto’s first-round pick to San Antonio is protected 1-20. After one year, it becomes two second-round picks.
Raptors President Masai Ujiri is reportedly confident of re-signing Leonard next summer despite the star player’s wish to sign in Los Angeles. Toronto will be able to offer him a five-year, $190 million contract which is more than any other team could offer a year from now.
