Dennis Schroder will join the Oklahoma City Thunder as part of a trade that will send Carmelo Anthony to the Atlanta Hawks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Anthony will be waived by the Hawks to sign with another team of his choice with the Rockets being the favorites to acquire him. Anthony will be fully compensated by the Hawks for his $27.9 million expiring contract

The trade also includes Mike Muscala and a 2022 first-round pick that the Thunder will get to unload Anthony’s salary. According to Chris Vivlamore, Muscala will go to the Philadelphia 76ers in return for French wing Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot.

Earlier this summer, Schroder talked about his ambition of joining a franchise that could potentially win the title. The 24-year-old German guard actually said that he “can’t be second to last in the Eastern Conference.”

Schroder, who finished 2017-2018 with career-high average 19.4 points per game in 67 games, now gets his wish and will join Russell Westbrook and Paul George in Oklahoma.
