John Telich of Fox 8 reports that Kevin Love will win the “Bronze Key” award, which acknowledges a person/organization who showcases support for those diagnosed with mental illness and/or addiction through action, following his sincere confession on the Players’ Tribune.
Love, 29, opened up about his mental health and panic attacks a few months prior, raising awareness around the league.
“If you’re suffering silently like I was, then you know how it can feel like nobody really gets it. Partly, I want to do it for me, but mostly, I want to do it because people don’t talk about mental health enough. And men and boys are probably the farthest behind”, Love confessed in his letter.
