Dirk Nowitzki has already created a unique record by playing 21 NBA seasons with the same franchise. That does not mean that he has already decided to call it a day in the summer of 2019.
Nowitzki met with the press yesterday and he explained that if his body permits him, he will not retire next summer: “I think I will make that decision once I see how the season goes. I almost played the entire season last year. I was healthy and obviously could have played every game, but I decided to have surgery early. If next year is going to go sort of the same, then hey, maybe. I am going to leave the door open. I’m going to play another, but I want to approach this like there is no tomorrow and hopefully have a great year. Try to be efficient again like I have tried to be my whole entire career. We will just go from there. Hopefully, it’s going to be a lot more fun than last year.”
The 40-year-old player clearly left the door open and considering the fact that he shot 41% in threes last season, everything seems possible.
