Alessandro Gentile will be in training camp with the Rockets next month, as the player himself revealed on Italian La Stampa.
Houston owns the rights of the 25-year-old swingman after acquiring them in a draft night trade in 2014, when Gentile was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the 53rd pick.
Gentile, who spent the previous season with Virtus Bologna admits that he’s been eyed from the Rockets for quite a bit of time: “I know that they have been following me for two years,” Gentile said. Mike D’Antoni already spoke to me in 2016 and now they want to see me.”
In his interview, Gentile also mentions his dream come true, as well as the reputation that follows him in his home country: “It’s a dream, I talked about it with Belinelli; he played with Paul and talks about it with a normality that disorients me. I only saw Paul while playing on PlayStation. I think I can express myself more easily abroad. In, Italy some prejudice has been created about me, also because of me.”
