The New Tork Knicks ‘Unicorn’ Kristaps Porzingis suffered a torn ACL injury back in February and while it’s sure he will be out until late December, the exact return schedule still hasn’t been planned. He reminded everybody of his height and body, and that it’s not such a common situation, so they have to be careful:

“We’ve done things differently because there is no protocol for a 7-3 guy. There is no timetable for my type of body, my size and all that. We’ve done things differently, very conservative and at the same time, I’ve been killing myself working. We’re just going to have to keep moving forward, keep progressing and see when is the right time for me to be back.”, Porzingis said at the Knicks’ media day.

Although he couldn’t predict his return on the court, he did confirm optimistically that the recovering process has been going well and he feels it: “My leg’s getting stronger. I’m feeling really, really good.” As well as that his desire has been bigger than ever: “Obviously I’m getting itchy and I want to get back on the court as soon as possible, but it won’t happen until I am 110 percent and medically cleared.”

Once he does come back, the work with new Knicks head coach David Fizdale awaits him but he is looking forward to it. They already had the opportunity to talk and get to know each other when coach Fizdale visited him in his home country Latvia during the summer:

“I believe he’s the type of person that wants to get the maximum out of each player around him. So I think me and him can work really well with him being able to ask those of me and me keep pushing and try to achieve those things, which are also my goals. So I think we’re on the same page there.”
