The 17th annual NBA GM survey was released on Wednesday (3/10) and according to it, Luka Doncic will win the Rookie of the Year (ROY) award for the upcoming season. He came out on top with 43 percent of the votes while Marvin Bagley III and Wendel Carter Jr. shared the second place with 17 percent. No. 1 pick draft pick DeAndre Ayton came in third with 13 percent of the votes.
Although he is the favorite to be the best rookie in the 2018-19 season, GMs don’t believe he will stay in front of his draft class long-term. When asked who among them will be the best in five years, GMs gave the advantage to Ayton and Jaron Jackson Jr. with 27 percent while Doncic received 17 percent of the votes at the third spot.
Doncic also found a spot in the category of best NBA international players with seven percent of the votes but that category completely belonged to Giannis Antetokounmpo who received 73 percent.
Among other things, GMs were also asked who is the best international player outside the NBA and Sergio Llull came out on top with 39 percent while Nando De Colo followed with 29 percent. Alexey Shved was third with 14 while Jan Vesely received seven percent at the fourth place.
