Slovenian star Goran Dragic scored 28 points, outscoring Portland 8-7 by himself in the final 3:52, and Heat scrambled in the final minutes to beat the Trail Blazers 120-111.
“We knew they were going to make their run,” said Dragic, who went over the career 10,000-point mark in the first half. “We knew we just had to stick to our game plan and we did.”
Meanwhile, the Bucks cruised to a 113-91 win over the Orlando Magic and have won six consecutive games to start the season, one shy of the record set by the 1971-72 team.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, who finished with 21 points in a season-low 19 minutes, was happy to see his teammates get involved.
“I know when I’m 40 and I’m retired, I’m going to be able to chase my kids and I’m still going to have my knees and I’m not going to look for knees on eBay,” Antetokounmpo said.
